Shaxi Old Town restaurant with simple fare
Dine with locals next to a flowing stream
Toward the bottom of the Shaxi Old Town Street as you follow the stream down, you will find an unassuming local restaurant with no English signage. Look for the wooden plackard on the tree which reads "Jia Jia Food & Beverage" carved in Chinese characters. There are only 4 tables normally available as the owners and their family also camp here during the day. The foods are fresh (as typical for Shaxi kitchens you just point at what you want in the cooler). If you dont know how you want something cooked, just let the chef make it for you with her best recipie.
These are kind local people who charge a very fair price and it's not unusual to see other local customers having lunch here, not only tourists. Sit at one of the sidewalk tables next to the stream and enjoy watching life go by in the Old Town.
FIND IT: Just outside Sideng Square to the North as you walk on to the main street in Shaxi Old Town.
